Eliseo Garcia August 28, 1927 – August 4, 2016 Eliseo Garcia, born in Yorktown, Texas on August 28, 1927; went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2016 at the age of 88. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Angelina Garcia. Mr. Garcia served his country in the United States Navy. He had a long civil service career, first as a Computer Programer and later as the Chief Systems Analyst for the U.S. Military's 5th Army. Mr. Garcia was an active Knights of Columbus member for many years. As a Fourth Degree Knight, Mr. Garcia was chosen as an Honor Guard for Saint Pope John Paul II's visit to San Antonio in September 1987. In 1961, Mr. Garcia and his wife, Angelina, were founding members of Holy Name Catholic Church. Committed to serving others, Mr. Garcia volunteered countless hours as a member of the Holy Name Parish Council, School Board, Guadalupanas, and multiple fundraising committees to support Catholic Charities and Catholic Schools. He also enjoyed volunteering as Holy Name School baseball coach and chaired many committees for the annual Holy Name Parish Festival. His apt barbecue skills and endearing joyous personality were beloved my friends and family alike. Throughout the years, Mr. Garcia and his wife, Angelina, generously sponsored many seminarians and immigrants who were seeking to fulfill their vocations and aspirations for a better life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Survivors include his children: Angelina R. Wittich Donald, Michael Garcia Thelma and Gloria R. Pichler James, 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and other loving family members and friends. Visitation will begin on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. with a rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 10:45 a.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church with a procession from the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
