Elodia Romero, age 80, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026. Elodia was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was her family. She touched the lives of countless children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with her love, kindness, and unwavering support. A hardworking and compassionate woman, Elodia dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) until the age of 70, earning the admiration, respect, and friendship of her coworkers and the gratitude of those she cared for. Her kindness, dedication, and selfless spirit never went unnoticed. Elodia had a passion for life and enjoyed dancing whenever she had the chance. She was also a devoted San Antonio Spurs fan. Even during her hospitalization, one of her concerns was asking her son if the Spurs game was on—a testament to her lifelong love for her favorite team. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victoriano and Beatris Leal Romero; several brothers and one sister; her beloved sons, Robert and Raul; and two infant granddaughters. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Javier Velasquez; her son, Isaias Lopez and wife Linda, along with their six children and stepchildren; and her daughters: Sallie Gonzalez and her three children; Rosemary Hernandez and husband Dan and their four children; Eloisa Soto and her four children; Joanne Aguilar and her three children; Melissa Lopez and her three children; Alice Lopez and husband Jorge Trejo and their three children; and Michelle Escatel and husband Martin and their four children. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her love and legacy forward. Elodia's memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her kindness, strength, and unconditional love will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Palm Heights Mortuary. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church. The funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., followed by interment at San Fernando Cemetery III.
