It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn Ileana G. Zapata, who passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025. She was surrounded by the love of her family and close friends. Visitation will be held Monday, May 26, 2025, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the Rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge St, San Antonio, TX 78230. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 700 Dewhurst Rd, San Antonio, TX 78213. Cremation will follow at a later date. She is survived by her beloved spouse Alberto Zapata, her cherished son Marco Lopez and daughter Karina Garcia and grandson Killian Garcia. She is also survived by her loving parents Martha Medrano Garcia and Raymundo Garcia. Siblings Alejandra Godoy, Raymond Garcia, and Irma Garcia and many adoring nieces and nephews including Natalie, Andrea, Julio, Joshua, Xitlale, Sebastian, Isaac, Destiny, Natalyn, Ariel, and Camila. Ileana was born on January 5, 1960, in Monterrey, Mexico to Martha and Raymundo Garcia. She lived a life filled with kindness, dedication and unwavering love for her family and friends. Ileana was a proud graduate of Edison high school class of 1979, where she benefited from long lasting friendships. Ileana dedicated over 20 years of her life to USAA before retiring and was known for her smile, laughter and always striving to help others. Ileana was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and treasured friend. She gave everything she had to make sure we felt safe, cherished and supported. Ileana was the heart of our family – a constant source of warmth, strength. Her home was always open to anyone in need of comfort, laughter or a good meal. Above all, Ileana's greatest blessings were her children, she was a loving and selfless mother, she poured her soul into raising Marco and Karina, nurturing them with patience, wisdom and above all unconditional love. Her greatest joy of becoming a grandmother came true with baby Killian; she was ecstatic about holding and loving him. Ileana was always ready with an open heart and listening ear, she was a confidante, a source of joy and an unwavering pillar of support to so many. Her life was marked by laughter, kindness, generosity, joy and the resilience she showed in difficult times. She was a true and loyal friend to all, fortunate enough to know her. Though our hearts are shattered, we are comforted by the legacy she leaves behind, a community better for having known her and the countless memories that will forever remind us of her beautiful soul.
