Jerjis Jamil Denno, MD, 64, of San Antonio, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 10th, after a 7 year courageous battle with Prostate cancer. He passed at his home with his family by his side. Jerjis was born on August 8, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan to Alice and Jamil Denno. He attended Cooley High School in Detroit and continued his education at Wayne State University in Detroit, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. Then went on to the University of Michigan Medical School, Ann Arbor, earning the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1981. His postgraduate education continued with an internship in general surgery at Buffalo, NY, residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, and fellowship training at Spine Surgery at South Texas Spinal Clinic under Dr. Gilbert Meadows. He completed his training and worked as an adult spinal surgeon for the next 30 years at South Texas Spinal Clinic as a partner. Jerjis had a passion for people and life. He loved taking care of his patients, gardening, running, fishing and traveling with his family. Jerjis always knew from a young age that he wanted to be a physician to help people. Giving and serving were true qualities of his and he did this in through the community and the clinic. From early childhood, he was always serving at his family church, taking care of elderly widows in neighborhood, to then serving in various capacities in the Boy Scouts (Troop 346) and the Girl Scouts (Troop 1111) and at his children’s schools, St. George Episcopal School, and The Winston School of San Antonio. His humbleness and genuine heart left a lasting impression on everyone who came in contact with him. Jerjis will be remembered as a loving husband and devoted father. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Shatha and their three children, James, Christopher, and Nora; Sister Mary (Yervant); Brother Benjamin (Linda); Sister Zena (Severius); Brother Basil (Mervat); Great uncle, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Jamil Denno and his mother Alice Eramya Denno. The family will forever be grateful to all relatives, friends, neighbors and St. George Episcopal Church parish for their prayers and support.
