Our sweet Georgia peach, Dennie Geraldine “Jerry” Newton Still, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at the age of 93 years. Jerry was born in Adairsville, Georgia on August 29, 1932 and was the daughter of Henry Bass Newton and Mary Louisiana Dyar. After her mother’s passing, Jerry was raised by her paternal grandparents, Della Barton Newton & Joe G. Newton (“Mama & Papa Newton”), and later by her stepmother, Mae Beatrice Newton (“MaMa”). At just 19 years old, on October 12, 1951, she married her lifelong love, Robert (Bob) Still. Together they shared 61 years, 6 months and 24 days of a deeply devoted marriage until his passing in 2013. As a dedicated wife and mother, Jerry supported Bob’s career by moving their young family from Atlanta, Georgia to San Antonio, Texas where they became charter members of Shearer Hills Baptist Church. She embraced the role of a 1950s homemaker, preparing dinner by 5:00pm each day and sewing her children’s clothing to stretch the budget. Despite the demands of raising three young children, she and Bob still found time to enjoy life together, especially through bowling, square dancing and round dancing. Jerry was not only a devoted and loving wife, but also an extraordinary mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished her family above all earthly things. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Still, and her brother, Charles Newton. She is survived by her daughters, Elaine Still Eickenroht and Janet Still Lindeman (Tom); son, Robert Gordon Still; grandchildren, Justin Still (Kara), Cullen Still (Daphne), Joshua Still (Chris), Danon Eickenroht, and Lia Bryce (Dailen); great-grandchildren, Zoiee Still, Cayden Still (Madelaine), Spencer Still and Barrett Still; niece, Becky Newton Hirzel (David); nephew, Dennis Newton (Roxann); as well as extended family and many dear friends. Jerry’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to her long-time friend, Laura Pichot, along with the many new friends and care teams who supported her at Brookdale Assisted Living, Wholehearted Care Senior Living and Good Shepherd Hospice, especially Enomie Rosenthal, Jeffery Hall, and Alicia Bay, among many others. It has been a true blessing to have them offer such exceptional love and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Music Ministry Fund or the Worship Center Furnishings Fund at Shearer Hills Baptist Church.
