Lillian Alline Philips September 18, 1928 - August 18, 2022 Lillian Alline (Stallcup) Philips passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 93 on August 18, 2022. Lillian was born September 18, 1928, in Taylor, Texas to Day and Jewel Stallcup. Lillian married the love of her life, Harry Philips, on August 15, 1947. Together, they raised two beautiful daughters, Debbie and Nancy. She was known for her hilarious sayings, famous stories about her husband Harry (or as her grandchildren called him “papa”), her love for Christ, and genuine love and consideration for her family, friends, neighbors, and community. Lillian loved reading an eclectic mix of light-hearted fiction, Christian fiction and nonfiction, her daily guidepost, and other biblical devotionals. She remained in close community with her friends at church. She cherished spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandson. She also took pride in the zillions and zillions of pictures of all her family that covered the walls of her late home in Portland, TX, as well as her impressive collection of porcelain chickens. Lillian loved having daily phone conversations with her best friend Penny Mason, who she would giggle with while they caught up and called each other “darling”. Mrs. Philips was also a faithful member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church in Portland, Texas and Trinity Lutheran Church in San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. Philips is survived by her two daughters, Deborah Lind and Nancy Harlan (Charles); Grandchildren, April Lind (Martin), Amy Geurin (Jeff), Stacey and Phillips (Forrest); Great-grandchildren, Lauren Pieper (Zach), Gloria Geurin, Katy Geurin, Lillian Geurin, Emmy Phillips and Finn Phillips; Great-great-grandson, Jax Pieper; Siblings, Joyce Stallcup, and sister-in-law Beth Philips; Her best friend, Penny Mason, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Day Stallcup and Jewel Stallcup; Her husband, Harry Philips; Siblings, Adabelle Stallcup and Zeb Wheeler; and her son-in-law, Michael Lind. A memorial service for Mrs. Philips will take place August 25, 2022, at 10:00am at Mission Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place at San Fernando Cemetery following the memorial service. Pallbearers include Jeff Geurin, Forrest Phillips, Zach Pieper, Finn Phillips, Butch Philips, and Rick Philips. Honorary pallbearers include Martin Fuentes, Lauren Pieper, Gloria Geurin, Katy Geurin, Emmy Phillips, Lillian Geurin, and Jax Pieper. Thank You from the Family Thank you to all the extended family and friends who have offered love, prayers and condolences during this time, and thank you to all who loved this beautiful soul as much as our family did. We were blessed with many years with her - years that were filled with joy, laughter, memories and a lot of love. She will forever be honored as the root of our family tree, who molded and shaped five generations and taught all of us how to love God and love others deeply. Anytime Wita hung up the phone with her children, grandchildren or great grandchildren, she always had to get the last word…and it went a little something like this: “I love you” “Well, I loved you first” And we will all live the rest of our lives remembering just how much she loved each and every one of us.
