Lowell Melvin Bachle

Lowell Melvin Bachle July 29, 1941 – August 23, 2026 Lowell Melvin Bachle of San Antonio, went to be with the lord on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at the age of 85. He was surrounded by his family at home. Lowell was born on July 29, 1941 in Fremont, Nebraska to Jerome and Wilma Bachle. He attended Lincoln High School and graduated in 1959. He married the love of his life Deloris (Walla) Bachle on August 10, 1963 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Valparaiso, Nebraska. Together they raised 3 incredible children and were blessed with 5 amazing grandchildren. For a short time Lowell was into stock car racing with his buddies in Nebraska even driving with a broken foot in a cast. That went over well with Deloris. Although Lowell was born a “City Boy” he learned how to farm from Deloris’ dad and started farming in Nebraska continuing until July 1974 when he moved with his family to San Antonio, Texas. Lowell spent most of his career working for the railroad. First for Burlington Northern Railroad, then Southern Pacific Railroad, and finally Union Pacific Railroad where he continued to work until retiring in May 2002. He often said he worked much harder after he retired than when he worked at the railroad. In November of 1993 Lowell and Deloris bought some land in Atascosa County and started raising cattle. They both enjoyed spending time at the ranch and spoiling their cattle. For many years Lowell and his family performed custom hay baling. Lowell was incredibly talented and could fix anything. It was once said Lowell could fix anything but the crack of dawn or a broken heart. He was very creative, if he didn’t have a tool for the job he would just make one. After a long day’s work Lowell, Deloris, and Stubby enjoyed sitting on their porch swing watching the animals and drinking a beer. Lowell’s friends and neighbors lovingly referred to him as “Mr. B”. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone that needed it and he never asked for anything in return. He had a contagious sense of humor, he never met a stranger, and he was a joy to be around. Lowell left a positive impression on everyone he met and he will be deeply missed by all, especially by his beloved little dog Stubby. Lowell and Stubby were inseparable. Lowell is preceded in death by his Brother Jerry Lee Bachle; his Parents, Jerome Bachle and Wilma Childs; his Sister Janice Reel, and his Daughter Brenda Huckle. Lowell is survived by his wife of 63 years, Deloris; his Daughter Linda Hart (Alan); his Son Jerome Bachle (Donna); his Grandchildren, Jason Huckle; Christopher Hart; Julee Bachle; Jon Bachle; Alee Bachle; and numerous relatives and friends. Pallbearers: Alan Hart, Jerome Bachle, Christopher Hart, Julee Bachle, Jon Bachle, and Alee Bachle Visitation will be held at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South on September 14, 2026 at 11:00 AM followed by a Rosary at 12:00 PM, then funeral service at 12:30 PM. Burial will follow at San Jose Burial Park. Lowell’s family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the Nurses and care team on the 8th floor Oncology unit at Main Methodist Hospital. Everyone treated Lowell with such care and compassion every time he was there and it is greatly appreciated.
