Lucille Calle, formerly of Selma, Texas, entered into eternal rest at Le Parc Safe Haven Home in Castroville, Texas on Friday, June 23, 2017 at the age of 91. Born July 10, 1925 in San Antonio, Texas. She was the eldest daughter of Leonard and Louise Wauters Gottardy. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Julius P. Calle, and her brother, Gerald Gottardy. Lucille is survived by her four children: Tony (Nita) Calle of Castroville; Rose (Rick) Aelvoet of Hondo; Jim (Sherri) Calle of Boise, Idaho and Tom (Jeri) Calle of Blue Ridge, Texas. Grandchildren: Keith (Tori) Calle, Katie Calle (Tai) Willyard, Kim Aelvoet (Dave) Birch, Chris (Cassie) Aelvoet, Lauren Aelvoet (Philip) Rothe, Amber Calle (Stephen) Warrington, Chris (Lisa) Calle and Michelle Calle (Clint) Birkhead. Also 15 great-grandchildren. Sisters and brothers: Rosalie Cerna, John Gottardy, Margie Grothues, Prudence Froebel, Geraldine Kellner and Richard Gottardy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lucille married the love of her life on June 17, 1948. They lived for a short time in San Antonio and then moved to Selma, Texas in 1954 to farm. Lucille was a homemaker for 18 years raising her four children. She helped to sew many costumes for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School. Her family remembers the many Easter celebrations, including the fun Easter egg hunts that the entire extended family enjoyed together at their home in Selma. She was very active in the Selma 4-H Club where she coached many teams to State competition. Lucille Served as the School Secretary for both Kirby Junior High and Kitty Hawk Elementary in the Judson School District. Lucille, Julius and the entire family attended Mass every Sunday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. She was a member of the St. Ann’s Altar Society for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Designing Angels at this church. Lucille was instrumental in helping to type the Belgian American history of farming in the San Antonio area. She was a charter member of the Belgian-American Club. Lucille left a legacy of love and her spirit lives within our hearts. We know she and Julius are happily reunited and their love lives on. SERVICES Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive. The Funeral Mass will be at 9:30 A.M. on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 16075 Evans Road, Selma, Texas 78154. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the St. Louis Catholic School, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School, the American Cancer Society in support of her friends or the charity of your choice.
