Mando Hugonnett passed away peacefully from this life surrounded by family and friends and went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 11, 2011 at the age of 69. Mando is survived by his beloved wife Mary, daughter Nicole and son-in-law Bob Geer, four grandchildren, Meagan, Chelsea, Dillon and Caleb. Mando is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Josefina Hugonnett and his sister Carmen Arizmendi. He is survived by his brothers, Manny, Roland, Joe and Rick Hugonnett, brothers-in-law, Alex Arizmendi, Pete and Antonio Quintanilla, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, godchildren and a family of friends. Mando and Mary's extraordinary and enduring partnership spanned over 4 decades. He loved his family unconditionally and was happiest when the family was together, especially when he was able to play poker with all the Geer men and boys. Mando was a happy spirit who lived life with humor and laughter. He was profoundly generous and loyal. He graduated from Brownsville High School and Pan American University of Texas. Mando served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and was in the U.S. Army Band, a trumpet player who played at many military events and funerals. He was a successful real-estate broker with over 38 years of real-estate sales and marketing experience in home sales, home loan sales and reverse mortgages. In the 70's & 80's he owned his own company, Baybrook Properties in the Houston area. Throughout his real-estate career he also worked with many builders as a sales manager or sales consultant in Texas, California and Nevada. Mando's gregarious personality was a perfect fit for the professional field he chose. He was loved by his clients and they became his life long friends. Mando retired 3 times before he actually hung up his hat for good. USAA brought him out of retirement the first time, the second time the hot market in Las Vegas in the 90's, then back home to the San Antonio market. Mando was a devoted Dallas Cowboy fan. He had a strong love for gambling in Las Vegas, especially with his buddies, Bob & Pam Banaszak. In his retirement years Mando enjoyed his weekly 4 hour lunch with his buddy Chato Zamora. The family will receive friends at Mission Park North Funeral Chapel for visitation from 6:00 pm on Monday, December 19th, followed by a rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, December 20th, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with a Mass in his honor at 11:30 am. Burial ceremony will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:45 pm. With great respect and honor, the pallbearers will be nephews, Tom Hugonnett, David Arizmendi, godson Dax Martinez, close friends, Jim Alley, Beno Engel and Randy Todd. Honorary pallbearers and brothers in real-estate: Roger Fiehn, Dan Morton, Bob Banaszak and Allan Fortier. In lieu of flowers, Mando would have wanted you to do an act of kindness with laughter and humor for someone else. Flowers fade, but a gift of kindness is remembered forever.
