It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Lou Allen on September 26, 2024, at the age of 79. Mary Lou was born on March 7, 1945 to James Allen & Louis Schoose. She grew up splitting time between her father’s family in Clinton, Indiana, and her mother’s family in River Grove, Illinois. As a child, Mary Lou attended Catholic school and wished to be a nun. While in school at East Leyden High in the suburbs of Chicago, she met her first husband, and the father of her three boys, Ronald Mulholland, They married upon her graduation, and began a life of many travels by honeymooning in Niagara Falls. Mary Lou continued her love of traveling when her grandkids were born, taking them on many journeys across the United States. These trips brought her great joy, and, after she was no longer able to travel, she would reminisce fondly about all her adventures with her grandkids (her pride and joy). Mary Lou was also proud to have gone back to college as an adult and finished her degree in accounting. She was able to put her degree to good use, working as a medical office manager in San Antonio until her retirement in 2005. After retiring, Mary Lou volunteered at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, where she also attended services. Mary Lou enjoyed keeping busy in her later years by assisting her neighbors and playing surrogate mom to the neighborhood cats. Preceded in death by her son Richard Mulholland, and her cats Miranda & Zoey. Survived by her sons: Randy Mulholland and Robert Mulholland; grandchildren Jeff (Vanessa) Mulholland, Carrie (Mark) Bell, Branden (Stacy) Mulholland, Andrew Mulholland, Gabrielle Mulholland, and Ayanna Mulholland; great-grandchildren Ruthie, Elsie, Jerrick, Twila, Sophia, Davey, Barrett, Josie and Zona, along with her beloved cat, Madison. Also survived by her sister, Angela Dallman and many nieces & nephews in the Chicago area. Mary Lou was also blessed with a sizable extended family in Indiana and Arizona. Mary Lou's final resting place will be at Mission Park Cemetery in San Antonio, next to her son, Richard. In lieu of flowers, Mary Lou requested donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in honor of Richard, who passed away from Muscular Dystrophy in 1996.
