Mary Ann Garcia

Mary Ann Garcia of San Antonio, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 29, 2026, at the age of 89. Mary Ann was born on July 8, 1937, in Rockport, Texas. She was preceded in death by her son Mario Albert Garcia; her mother, Antonia Rinche; and her sister, Clara Rodriguez Siller. Mary Ann is lovingly remembered by her husband, Augustin Garcia; her son, Edward Garcia (Stacy); her grandson Trevor Garcia; her granddaughters, Kailey and Aydren Garcia; and many extended family and friends. Mary Ann grew up in Rockport, Texas, and was the firstborn child of Antonia “Toni” Rinche, who worked primarily as a housekeeper. Toni taught her children to care for themselves and, of course, how to care for a home. Following her mother’s example, Mary Ann was the kind of person who never visited someone’s home without offering a helping hand. Serving her family and friends was something she genuinely enjoyed. She was known for putting the needs of others before her own and finding joy in the simplest acts of service—whether washing dishes by hand, cleaning someone’s stove just because she could, or simply making herself useful wherever she was needed. Her unwavering willingness to serve reflected the love she had for those around her. Mary Ann sacrificed so much throughout her life for the people she loved most—her family. After graduating from high school, she and a close high school friend moved to San Antonio in search of a better life and new opportunities. Once in San Antonio, Mary worked a variety of jobs to make ends meet before eventually building a career in the finance industry as an administrative assistant, where she helped approve cash loans for those in need. Through this experience, she developed the knowledge and confidence to manage her own finances and build a stable life. Even after leaving Rockport, Mary Ann never forgot her family. Knowing that her mother, Toni, was raising four younger children, Mary Ann selflessly sent much of her income home to help support her family. Her generosity and devotion to those she loved remained constant throughout her life. Mary Ann eventually retired after a long and dedicated career as a Lead Administrative Assistant with the City of San Antonio’s Arson Department. Mary Ann was a loving and devoted wife. She met her future husband, Augustin Garcia, through a blind date arranged by her former boss. Her boss simply told her, “Mary, I’ve got a good-looking guy I want you to meet.” That introduction led to a first date with Augustin, and the two quickly fell in love. What began as a blind date blossomed into a lifelong partnership and a marriage that spanned 63 wonderful years. Mary Ann absolutely adored her three grandchildren, Trevor, Kailey, and Ayden, and loved them with the same unconditional love she gave her two sons. Some of her happiest moments were spent hosting sleepovers and creating special memories with her beloved grandchildren. She loved supporting them in all their endeavors, attending countless birthday celebrations, dance recitals, gymnastics competitions, theatre performances, band concerts, soccer matches, and graduations. On behalf of the Garcia family, thank you for your unwavering love and support for Mary Ann and for being a meaningful part of her life. If she didn’t always say it, please know that she cherished your company and was undoubtedly a better person for having known you. We love you, Mary Ann. May the loving hands of God embrace you, surround you with His peace, and protect you until the day we meet again. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 29, at 3:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Home on Cherry Ridge Road.
