Mary Hill Henley went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 31, 2017. She was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on October 29, 1932 to Marie and Lester Hill. Her family moved to Los Angeles, where she grew up. While visiting some relatives in San Antonio, she met a young firefighter named Norris Henley and they fell in love. They were married on November 22, 1951 and began a journey of faith, family, and joyful fellowship that would last more than 65 years. Mary worked for 27 years in the Northside School District as a teaching assistant and a library aide. She and Norris raised 6 children and they were actively involved in ministry and activities at South San Baptist Church, University Park Baptist Church, and later, First Baptist Church of Helotes. The Henley children love to laugh and reminisce about fun family vacations, time spent with extended family and growing up with parents who encouraged individuality. Mary had lifelong interests in reading, gardening, birds and decorating. Friends and family described her as a woman of faith, a gracious hostess, and a fashionably dressed lady. Mary is survived by her loving husband Norris, daughter Linda McCoy and husband Mike, son Steven Henley and wife Pam, daughter Karen Stogsdill and husband Wade, daughter Alison Henley, daughter Debbie Gartman, son Paul Henley and wife Patty and son Jonathan Henley and wife Cindy. Additionally, she leaves behind grandchildren Ben Stogsdill and wife Ilene, Derek Henley and wife Rebecca, Lindsay Stogsdill and Scott Williams, Marla Krause and husband Timothy, Lauren Cheatwood, Paige Henley, Andrew McCoy and wife Rebecca, Molly McCoy, and Justin Henley. She was blessed with seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother Les Hill and wife Joyce, brother Jesse Hill and wife Denise, brother Harold Hill and sister Vickie Perez. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. SERVICES Visitation will be from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels Stone Oak. The Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Helotes. Private Interment will be for family members at Mission Burial Park North.
