Nardelio passed away peacefully on January 24, 2017. He was born on 08/26/1940 to Joe R. Medina and Fransisca Castanuela in San Antonio, TX. Nardi’s attended St. Philip of Jesus Catholic School. There, he acquired his leadership skills as a boy scout of America troop number 91 in 1954. He attended Brackenridge High School, and then joined the service. Nardi loved family life. He was the third from the oldest, and throughout the years, he constantly watched over all twelve of his brothers and sisters and their families. There was no problem he could not solve and he was always there to lend a hand. He was the pillar of the Medina family. As a young boy, Nardi worked alongside his father helping manage his father’s business located on Mitchell St, south of downtown, ‘JOE’S PLACE’. A tavern where only men were allowed to frequent. His dad retired and sold the business to Nardi. In the Air Force, Nardelio visited many places including New York and he loved living in Paris, France. After three years of duty, he came home and worked at a detention school for boys. He applied for a job at Kelly AFB and used his communication and guidance skills to move up to a manager’s position. Like at home, his co-workers respected his opinion and judgements. With the closing of Kelly AFB, Nardi retired. Nardi had a great sense of humor and was always quick with a comeback. He enjoyed get-togethers and meeting new friends. The ROSS Senior Center was a happy place for him and his wife Hope. They gathered there with numerous friends for lunch and would take occasional short trips around Texas. He was well known at the Ross Center, always mischievous and playfully teasing anyone. He loved hearing the sounds of the old county western tunes. Nardi met his wife Hope Solis in San Antonio, TX. They were married in Seguin TX on October on 10/14/1980. They had 37 wonderful years of marriage until 11/5/2016, when Hope passed away. They had no children, but, Nardi considered every child linked with the family, his own. Nardelio became a member of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, in Alzafar temple of San Antonio TX, he received the Scottish rite degrees on 6/22/1974 including the 32nd degree, an accomplishment he was very proud to have achieved. He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Joe Jr., Ralph and Santos Medina. He is survived by two brothers, Alejandro (Diana) and Jesse (Charlotte) Medina. Six sisters, Micaela Gonzalez, Teresa Navarro (Victor), Dolores Vasquez(Adrian), Fransisca Medina, Rosario Salazar(Rudy)and Elida Olivia Perrera (Michael). Also numerous nieces and nephews. Nardi, you will be a void in ALL the hearts you left behind.
