Omadell L. Harris age 91 of San Antonio passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, November 25, 2014. She was born on January 29, 1923 in San Antonio to William and Leona Black Covell who preceded her death. Her hobbies included crafts, extensive travel where she visited almost all 50 states except for Hawaii as well as numerous countries throughout the world. She particularly took great joy in painting. She had her painting at numerous exhibits including the Starving Artists Show and La Villita. She was a member for many years of The Friendship Art Club in Lytle, Texas. She was very talented in other hobbies including cooking, sewing, embroidery and doll making. She was an excellent cook and became well-known for certain family favorites. In fact, she prepared custom made cookbooks with all of her favorite recipes to her children and grandchildren, affectionately titled "Grandma's Favorites". She entertained everyone with funny stories throughout the years, which often filled her home with laughter. She also loved playing a good game of cards and her favorite game was Pitch. Christmas was a particularly special time of year for which she spent several months preparing with the intention of making sure each person received specific well thought out gifts just for them. She set a great example of love, family and wisdom to all. Family was important to her and she loved having everyone together and she loved laughter. Omadell spent a great deal of time making individual homemade gifts for all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Leroy Covell, Tommy Covell, Colleen Mock and Ginger Klesel. Omadell is survived by her husband, of 67 years, Darrell G. Harris; her children, Lea Harris of San Antonio, Dee Harris Peterson and her husband, Gilbert of New Zealand, Bruce Harris and his wife, Debra of San Antonio; her grandchildren she deeply loved, Kassandra Harris Garza and her husband, Daniel, Ariel Harris, and Drew Harris; she also deeply loved her great grandchildren, Mikayla, Caleb and Clara Grace Garza. She is also survived by her younger brother, Jack Covell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. SERVICES Visitation will be on Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive. The Funeral Service will be on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at University United Methodist Church, 5084 DeZavala Road. After a reception at the Church, the Interment will follow at 3:30 P.M. at Mission Burial Park North.
