Oralia Machado Lopez, age 80, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. Born and raised in San Antonio, Oralia lived a life defined by unwavering strength, deep devotion to her family, and a steadfast commitment to the values she held close to her heart. As a young adult, Oralia began her career at Deltek Optical before transitioning into the insurance industry. She joined Aetna Casualty & Surety, where she built a remarkable career spanning more than two decades. Starting as a records processor, she advanced through dedication and skill to become an Office Claims Specialist, handling both personal and commercial property damage claims. Her bilingual abilities allowed her to assist clients and colleagues in English and Spanish, and she was known for her professionalism, compassion, and precision in every case she managed. After a brief hiatus, she continued her career at USAA as an auto claims adjuster, serving members with diligence and care for another 15 years until her retirement. A devoted Catholic, Oralia was deeply connected to her faith communities at St. Mary Magdalen and St. Gregory the Great. Her faith shaped her resilience, her discipline, and the way she cared for those she loved. Oralia was known for her strong will — it was often said that it was her way or the highway — yet beneath that stern exterior was a woman who gave endlessly. She loved having her family together for every holiday and celebration. She didn’t enjoy cooking, but she made sure everyone was fed, cared for, and connected. She was the leader of her family, the one everyone turned to, especially during the holidays when her presence brought everyone together. She had a playful, unmistakable side that made her unforgettable. She loved to snack throughout the day — popcorn, ice cream, candies, pastries — and kept her meals simple. She enjoyed watching movies and had a special love for buying jumbo TVs. She adored the beach, found joy in attending her grandchildren’s sports events, and loved cheering on her nieces’ and nephews’ children as well. Her grandchildren kept her young at heart, making sure she never fell behind on music or pop culture. Her values were traditional and unwavering. She stood firm in what she believed, and those beliefs shaped the foundation of her family. She was the glue that held everyone together — the one who made holidays feel whole, the one whose presence meant comfort, stability, and home. Oralia is survived by her daughters, Gisela Maris Sifuentes and Cristina Noel Salazar; her son in law, Armando Sifuentes Jr.; and her beloved grandchildren, Iliana I. Sifuentes, Marco A. Sifuentes, and Rodrigo C. Sifuentes. She is also survived by her sisters, Hortencia Lopez and Olga Hickey, and Olga’s husband, William Hickey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, Manual and Margarita Lopez. Oralia’s legacy lives on in the traditions she built, the values she instilled, and the family she loved fiercely. Her strength, her humor, her devotion, and her unmistakable presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
