Patricia Ann Johnston, age 90, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on July 26, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio, to Charles Alfred Burns and Francis Isabel (Jones) Burns. In July 1952, while visiting San Antonio, Patricia met the love of her life, Jerone, on a blind date. It was truly “love at first sight.” After returning to Ohio to finish her senior year of high school, Patricia received an engagement ring in the mail from Jerone. Following her graduation, the two were married on June 20, 1953, at First Baptist Church in San Antonio. After Jerone suffered an injury that led to an honorable discharge from the Army, they returned to Texas A&M University so he could complete his degree. Patricia always joked that she received her “PHT” — Putting Hubby Through. Together, Patricia and Jerone were social butterflies, attending Roaring ’20s parties in San Antonio and traveling whenever possible. Patricia worked in various capacities throughout her life, including the medical field and even for a State Senator. She was also an active member of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA). After relocating to Corpus Christi in 1990, she began working as a Medical Transcriptionist at Christus Spohn Shoreline, where she continued to dedicate her skills and strong work ethic. Patricia will be remembered for her strength, generosity, love of animals, and fiery personality that touched everyone who knew her. She is survived by her children, Scott Johnston and wife Kristie of Georgetown, TX, and Amy Curry and husband Joe of Corpus Christi, TX; her grandchildren, Kristopher Johnston and wife Helen of Georgetown, TX, Erika Greer and husband Ty of Georgetown, TX, Tony Johnston of Georgetown, TX, and Cole Curry and Harlow Curry of Corpus Christi, TX; and her great-grandchildren, Kenna, Peyton, Liam, and baby Rosemary (due in October). She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Carol Johnston of San Marcos, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Francis Burns, son, James Wheeler Johnston, her beloved husband Jerone, and other loved ones who welcomed her home. A graveside service to celebrate Patricia’s life will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX, on September 12, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
