Our dearly beloved Raymond Nash Garcia Jr. was called to eternal life on Thursday, September 21, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 89. He was born on May 20, 1934 in Karnes City, Texas to Raymond Garcia, Sr. and Victoria Nash Garcia. Upon graduation from Karnes City High School on May 19,1955, Raymond faithfully served his country in the Unites States Army. He received a commendation for outstanding service in November 1958. Following his military service, Raymond entered civilian life and began a life long career with San Antonio Water System. He retired after 37 years of loyal and dedicated service on Dec 31, 1996. Raymond met the love of his life Beatrice, whom he married on April 13, 1985. They lived happily and grew in love for 22 years. He tenderly cared for his beloved Beatrice until her death in July 2007. Raymond was a life long devout Catholic, steadfast in his faith, a true man of God. He lived his life as a pure, humble soul, always ready to lend a hand, be a friend, pray for you, and just listen when you needed. Raymond embraced his step family as his own and he is dearly loved by us. We are blessed beyond measure to have had him in our lives. Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beatrice Vera Garcia. He is survived by daughters, Virginia Marquez, Carmen Castillo and Terri Alejos (Eliseo); niece, Sylvia Mirabal; nephew, Edward Steven Broughan (Priscilla); great-nieces, Janis Humphreys (Jim) and Jannay Ruckman; great-nephews, Jeffrey Mirabal, and Edward Steven Broughan II; great-great nieces Madison Humhreys,, and Marin Ruckman; grandchildren, Felix Marquez Jr., Debbie Marquez Do, Laura Marquez Ramsey (Steve) , Steven Marquez (Tanya), Edward Castillo Jr. (Julia), Richard Castillo (Sarah), Katherine Maddox (Nicholas) and 15 great grandchildren. He is also survived by many more relatives, nieces, nephews and dear friends he has made through the years. We extend heartfelt thanks to our family and friends for your love and support. From the bottom of our hearts, we wish to thank the entire staff and community of Villa De San Antonio, where Raymond called home for many years, made many friends and fond memories. He loved each and everyone of you very much. Thank you, staff and volunteers of New Century Hospice, especially Christina, Laurel, and everyone who cared for Raymond with such love and gentleness. You always responded to our calls with compassion and professionalism. We also want to thank Amada Healthcare, especially Samantha, for helping us care for Raymond. Thank you to our friends Jeanette and Monica, for your assistance, friendship, and care for Raymond in his time of need. SERVICES Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 6:00pm-9:00pm, with a Rosary at 7:00pm at Mission Park Medical Center. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 12:30pm at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
