Rodolfo O. Leal of San Antonio, Texas passed away February 5, 2024. Rodolfo, fondly known as Rudy, was born to Rodolfo G. Leal Sr. and Celia O. Leal on September 17, 1949, in Cuero, Texas. He grew up in Pearsall, Texas and relocated to San Antonio, Texas his senior year in high school. He graduated from Harlandale High School in 1970. Also in his senior year, he met his lovely wife, Julia. They fell in love and soon married in the fall of 1970 and began their family. They were married for 53 years. Throughout his life people knew Rudy as the one always making others laugh with his jokes or elaborate stories, always to include the exact day of the week and time. He was a family man who loved not only his immediate and extended family but even those close friends who he made family. He was a very generous man who would find means to help others. His generosity ranged from finding snacks or a few dollars to give to the homeless to game snacks for his grandson’s teammates. He had a tradition of buying a scratch off lottery ticket anytime we would travel out of town. If he happened to win, he would make sure to share his winnings by evenly distributing to his family. He would like to say, “If I win, we all win”. He loved yearly vacation trips to Port Aransas to simply relax, fish off the pier and enjoy a good restaurant meal of local seafood cuisine. His favorite past times included listening to music, sitting out in the backyard dancing to music on a lovely evening, going to catch a movie with his forever date or watching his grandson’s Fire basketball team compete. Rudy is survived by his wife Julia, two children, Randy and Veronica and his grandson, Jarek. He is also survived by his half- sisters, Iris, Bertha Alicia, Benita, and Sarah. Rudy was predeceased by his parents, Rodolfo and Celia, and his brother Rene. He had many extended family members who he loved dearly. Rudy’s family will host a funeral service on Friday, February 16, 2024. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a prayer service at 6:30 pm at Mission Parks Funeral Chapels South. Services are to conclude after prayer service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Haven for Hope in Rudy’s name.
