Roger D. Maley entered heaven on the morning of January 7th, 2023. He enjoyed a blessed life of 81 years, born on February 20, 1941, in Kenedy, Texas to Dolores Fonseca Martinez Fischer. He was surrounded by loving half-siblings, Ferdinand Fischer, Augustina Mendoza, Ted Quinonez (living), Aurelio Quinonez, Emma Lee Zepeda, Esteban Fischer, and his full sibling Maria Elena Torralva-Alonso (living). Protecting and keeping the family ties was very important to Roger and even more so as he created his own family. From teenage sweethearts to life-long soul mates, Roger was only 14 when he cast his eyes on Flora Villagran and they fell in love. At the age of 17, Roger proposed to Flo, and they married on August 3, 1958. It was love at first sight, best-friends for life with laughter as their foundation. Married for 64 years, Roger cherished Flo and stayed true to his vow of “until death do us part”. They started their tree of life together in San Antonio, Tx and later a family; a strong vine yielding much fruit from three loving daughters. Roger was a devoted and dedicated father to Veronica Delgado married to Max, Annette Canales married to David, and Barbara Winslow-White married to Eric. Roger, known as Papa, was proud of and nurtured his eight grandchildren Maxine Delgado Biggs, Monica Delgado Hinkle, Alyssa Canales Ralston, Sarah Canales Oviatt, Roger David Canales, Erika Winslow, Morgan Winslow, and Kevin Winslow. Roger was also blessed with eight great grandchildren whom he so adored. Relationships were equally important to Roger as many friends, even from childhood, remained by his side as life-long companions. Roger was a successful proprietor and entrepreneur in the construction and restaurant industry, land- owner and home developer in south Texas, and a leader and role model for his community and family. Roger enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Roger, a man of strong faith, has laid a cornerstone for us all to follow and that can never be broken. Roger, we love you and we thank you for all the times you have made us laugh, taught us with patience and kindness, guided us through troubles and provided us strength and wisdom. May the fruit of your life shine brightly through our hearts for all the world to see and remember you by until we may be with you again. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20th, with a rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North 3401 Cherry Ridge Dr. Mass service to be held Saturday, January 21st, at 8:30 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church 130 S. Augustine Ave, San Antonio. Following mass, a reception will be held in the St. Jude Hall.
