Timothy Jones died February 27, 2026 at the age of 57 after a brief illness. Timothy was born on 10/22/1968 in Dallas to Marjorie Mangrum and William Dale Jones. Timothy loved being outside in the park, walking and running, fishing and swimming. Timothy loved eating and always seemed happiest when he had pizza and ice cream. Although Timothy could not speak due to disability, he communicated well with us with his bright eyes and big smile. Despite the difficulties in his life, Timothy always seemed to be smiling. Timothy’s early years were very difficult due to living in institutional settings, as was common in those days for people with disabilities. But in his life Timothy encountered a large village of people who helped him to live a happier life in community settings. With the help of Reed Martin and Advocacy Inc., Timothy was able to move into community settings, where he then found more people to support him. The number of people who advocated for Timothy over the years are too numerous to all name here, but a few who spent many years with him are Terri Davis and Michael Gordon of Community Learning Center, where he spent many years learning and growing in all areas of life; Shane West, director of Regency Community Services, who provided services for Timothy when no one else was willing to help; Terry Gutierrez, his case manager who always had something positive to say about Timothy and kept a close eye on him to be sure he was cared for; Will Martin, who provided day habilitation services for Timothy for many years, kept him safe and helped him participate in community activities; Angel Care Day Hab center that accepted him without hesitation or complaint; and finally Michael and Anthony Jones, foster care providers who opened their home to Timothy 20 years ago, treated him with respect as a man, and welcomed him into their family, providing him with a safe home and happiness; and many direct care workers who took care of Timothy even on his most challenging days. Timothy’s life was much richer due to all these wonderful, caring people. In his final days, the staff at North East Methodist Hospital and Heart to Heart Hospice provided kind and patient care for Timothy and allowed him to die with peace. Timothy is survived by his guardian, Anna Marabella, who met him when he was 6 and is forever appreciative for all Timothy gave her and for the many people who helped make Timothy’s life better.
