Vera Daisy Gross

Vera Daisy Gross - June 5, 1931 - August 20, 2026 Vera attended South San High School and graduated in 1949. Her senior year she was honored by being chosen by the entire school faculty to represent the school as Miss Bobcat. Vera’s journey began with a key and a wire, working as a telegrapher for the railroad. She used to joke that she was “texting” back in the 1950’s - and as fate would have it that very wire is how she met our dad. Her passion for health and nutrition was born out of deep love for her father when he faced colon cancer and heart disease. Vera helped to care for him. The very first time she gave him Vitamin E, it stopped his angina pain - and just like that, a spark was lit. She threw herself into reading, researching, and learning everything she possibly could about nutrition and health. After her dad passed, Vera found herself feeling lost. She asked her sister to pray with her for a clear purpose; to be given the ability to help others. God heard that prayer and answered it in ways she never could have imagined. She never dreamed she would own a business, but God guided every step of the way. Vera always reminded us, “God has the cash register taken care of - He just gave us the wisdom to help.” And help He did. Over more than 50 years, she touched the lives of thousands of people. She firmly believed that God never put a disease on this earth that couldn’t be helped, and she made it her life’s work to prove it. Whether it was her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family or a customer walking through the store door, mom was always there when needed. She taught us by example that it is always far better to give whenever and whatever you can. At work, she never hesitated to plant seeds of faith, sharing God’s love with everyone who walked in. Through her work in the health industry, she traveled extensively across the United States and abroad. Over the years, countless customers and family members would walk up to her and say, “You saved my life” or “You helped me finally get pregnant.” But Vera’s answer was always humble and swift: “Give God the glory - He gives us wisdom.” After several years in business, she became a certified nutritionist in the state of Texas. One of mom’s best friends commented we know she’s in heaven and probably has all the angels on supplements. Mom always took great pride in her appearance and how she dressed. As we were going through her things, we discovered tons of safety pins attached to virtually every piece of clothing she owned. We lovingly teased her and crowned her the “Safety Pin Queen.” We will miss her dearly, but we hold fast to God’s promises knowing this is not the end, and we will meet again. She has now traded her earthly work for divine peace and now wears her true crown of glory.
