Wilma E. Mason completed her journey home to be with her Lord on February 2nd. Born Wilma Elizabeth Nitschmann on August 8, 1921, in Poth, Texas she married Joy Jennings Mason when she was 17 years old. Wilma and Mason spent many happy years together until he passed away in 1981. She is survived by her daughter Darlyne Schulz and her son Richard Mason; five grandchildren Kathy, Debra, Scott, Anne, and Charles; six great grandchildren Michael, Jordan, Matthew, Rebecca, Jessica, and Maddox; and numerous nieces, nephews. Wilma was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a current member of Highland Park Lutheran Church. She was also a member of Herman Sons Pershing Lodge for 74 years and held office in the American Association of Retired Persons. Wilma enjoyed a very active and fulfilling life always guided and directed by service to her Lord, her church, her community, and her ever growing circle of friends. She was active in her Church Altar Guild, Woman of the Church, Sunday School, choir, and Visitation Program for Shut-ins. She volunteered at the local food bank and the Lutheran Thrift Store. A constant support and inspiration to her family, friends, and community, she considered helping others her Christian obligation. She was an avid bowler carrying membership in four different leagues. She enjoyed traveling and went to many interesting places and countries with her friends. In recent years, her favorite pastime was playing out-of-state casino slots. Closer to home her small in home and backyard parties of 30 to 40 people were a great hit with friends and relatives alike. Wilma - devoted wife, loving mother, caring grandmother and great grandmother, will be sorely missed by all who had the honor and privilege to know her and love her. Her shining light has not dimmed but has just moved higher in the heavens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Highland Park Lutheran Church Altar Guild. Services Visitation will be held Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 4, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Highland Park Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery III.
