Our beloved mother, Yolanda Leon Gonzalez, age 83, of San Antonio, TX was called to her eternal heavenly home by our Lord on the morning of Sunday, June 14, 2026. Our mother, and daughter of Christ, gently transitioned from being held in the arms of her three loving children to being held in the arms of her loving God, our Lord Jesus Christ. Yolanda is preceded in death by her parents, Salvador and Celia Leon and her brothers, Salvador Leon, Jr, Alfred Leon and Carlos Leon. Yolanda’s survivors include her three children, Linda Parsi, MD (John), James Anthony Donnel, Jr., MD (Laura) and Christine Leon Campbell (Chuck); as well as, five very talented grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, her sister, brother, several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Yolanda is, also, survived by her second husband, Jaime Serna Gonzalez and stepsons, Javier Gonzalez (Julie) and Carlos Gonzalez (Margaret); as well as, two step-grandchildren. Yolanda was born, as the youngest child, in San Antonio, TX on Friday, July 17, 1942 where she was raised by her loving parents and family of four brothers and one sister. Yolanda shared a deep love for her family and was a dutiful and loving daughter. Before Yolanda retired, Yolanda worked as an expert Office and Business Manager in the medical field where she was known for her devotion, professionalism and stellar recordkeeping. After embarking on a second career, Yolanda became a professionally trained florist who, for years, worked alongside several other eminent florists in the San Antonio area, always creating stunning floral arrangements, bouquets, sprays and displays with precision and great beauty. Yolanda specialized in all aspects of wedding flowers and design, happily delivering her beautiful creations to weddings throughout the San Antonio area. Yolanda had a passion for Bible reading, walking, dancing, music, education, global travel, animals, astronomy, biological science, and keeping her home and yard immaculate; as well as, generously donating to various charities. Yolanda was deeply loved by her three children, their three spouses, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Yolanda raised her family on delicious home-cooked traditional Mexican meals, fruit salads and desserts- all whose most important ingredient was love. Yolanda was always impeccably groomed and always wore the most-lovely of fragrances. Yolanda was, affectionately, known as Mom, Mami, Granny, and Bisabu. Yolanda leaves a profound legacy of love and devotion to her family and to her Lord, Jesus Christ. Yolanda will always be remembered, among countless things, for her astounding ability to remember dates, times and details of all kinds of events, for her wonderful laughter that delighted and soothed every soul in the room, for her tender loving care of the many dogs and cats who she rescued throughout her life, for her diligence in always remembering and uniting extended family members, and for her strong emphasis on the importance of education in her children’s lives. Yolanda will, also, be remembered for her hilarious sense of humor, for dancing to fun music while doing housework, and for the very charming, playful, childlike quality of her personality that made Mami so much fun(!) to be around and will keep her treasured memory forever young in our hearts. Thank you, our beautiful Mami, for loving us and teaching us in the gentle, humorous and Godly ways that you did. We will each be called, someday, to our heavenly home and will be reunited forever, in our Lord’s perfect time. Until then, Mami, we will hold you as a rare treasure in our hearts. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 10:00 am-11:00 am at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Dr., San Antonio, TX 78228. The Graveside Service will be on Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 11:30 am-12:00 noon at San Fernando Cemetery III, 1735 Cupples Rd., San Antonio, TX 78226.
